The Story of Ursalia Creative

Here at Ursalia we strive to bring you a unique west coast design on a comfortable and well made garment. Our artwork reflects our appreciation for the Canadian outdoors with a minimalistic approach. Because Canada is a vast territory with abundance in natural beauty and wildlife, we found the name Ursalia fitting as it means "place of bears" and was once considered as a name for Canada.

About The Artist

Shayne Lloyd is a Canadian born artist who was raised in various communities in the provinces and territories of western Canada. The rich diversity of landscapes and wildlife Shayne encountered growing up had a profound influence on his artistic interests, pursuits and subject matter. After graduating high school, Shayne attended Classical Animation training with Vancouver Institute of Media Arts. Shayne later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo B.C. and then continued working to attain his Masters in Studio Arts with Emily Carr University in Vancouver B.C., where he is currently enrolled. Shayne works as a freelance artist in various artistic mediums including illustration, painting and three-dimensional design. The designs and illustrations produced for Ursalia Creative stem from Shayne’s passion for illustration and appreciation of Canadian wildlife and lifestyle.

“I am both student of art and history, I feel art can help me fill knowledge gaps, answer important questions and re-learn history through art.”
